ABOUT ME

My name is Damon Eckard.

My pronouns are he/him/his. I grew up in Kansas. I spent a decade studying classical percussion with Golden-era jazz master Harry Huxol. I started playing guitar because I couldn’t afford a drum kit. I spent my teens playing drums and guitar in bands with friends and sitting in front of my stereo figuring out songs by ear. I played drums, guitar, and vibraphone in jazz bands ‘cause it was an absolute blast. I played anything I could hit with a stick in orchestras ‘cause the ladies love a triangle player. I played snare drum in marching bands ‘cause I was a glutton for punishment. I studied music theory and composition at the University of Kansas.

I joined shoegaze band Shallow on electric guitar and Farfisa Mini Compact organ and toured a bunch with them. I moved to the Bay Area in my 20s and spent way too long working in restaurants. I started Axes of E’ville in my early 30s because I was miserable not working with music and I was tired of getting fired. I have ADHD. I live with my partner Shannon and my cat Pigeon, I compose music for video games, and I write songs under the name My Tiger Luck.
